This 3D puzzle kit contains all parts to assemble the Scarab beetle without glue. Scarab body is made of black cardboard. The shields, made of metallic paper, are available in three stunning colours.

A very special beetle with amazing skills! Scarab beetles, also known as dung beetles form balls of dung to lay their eggs in. They do this by day and use their chisel-like head to make the ball perfectly spherical. They roll the ball by pushing them with their back legs and on their way, they climb on top to navigate where to go. They can use the sun, the moon and even the milky way to navigate! Once they found their destination, they bury the ball in the ground. It’s this behaviour that captured the imaginations of the ancient Egyptians and linked solar god Khepri to this beetle. The rolling around of the ball and making it disappear was compared with the sun that moves around the sky and vanishes every day.

Constructing the Scarab Beetle is a precise and very delicate task. The small and super detailed parts of the beetle-body are made of black cardboard. The shields are made of unique metallic gradient paper to mimic the colourful effect of the real exotic Scarab beetles.

You can mount the beetle on the wall with or without the supplied white cardboard display. You can also put the beetle on the white cardboard display and place it on your desk, shelf, side-table or wherever!

It takes about 15 minutes to assemble the Assembli beetle yourself.
